Recommendation: Affordable accommodation in Moscow, Izmailovo Gamma Delta

If you’re looking for affordable accommodation in Moscow at a safe location, here’s the place.

We stayed in Izmailovo Gamma Delta during our time in Moscow. It’s probably one of the few affordable hotels (SGD120) a night in Moscow, and is a pretty decent and safe place close to food outlets and a supermarket.

Accessibility wise it’s really near the Partizanskaya metro station and a 25 minute train ride into the city, so unless you’re in Moscow for the nightlight, it shouldn’t be difficult getting back during normal train operating hours.

The reason why I said that it’s really secure it’s because of the rather fierce Russian-speaking only security guard standing by the lift doors. He made each one of us show our guest cards every time we took the lift up to the rooms. Not so much of pleasant customer service, but we did feel very safe.

We had left some caviar in the room after checking out, and when we went back to get it, he wouldn’t let us take the lift until the receptionist at the hotel told him to do so. And boy, he did look like a martial arts expert.
