Date a guy who is younger than you / Date a girl who is older than you
When I ask most of my friends if they would date a guy who is younger, or a girl who is older than them, the reply is usually “No”, or “okay lah, if it’s plus or minus two years”. Some friends even go on to say that they would prefer the girl to be younger, because “girls tend to age faster than guys”. Which is a whole lot of crap if you read this Daily Mail article, and think about the anti-ageing potions that women use their whole life. Surely, those must have some effect!
Looks aside, here are some great reasons why age does not matter in dates, and nothing should stop you from dating a guy, no matter how young he is. I’ll like to say a big thanks my Friend S and her boyfriend for sharing their insights. There is a four-year age difference between them.

Date a guy who is younger than you because he is vibrant and full of life, always willing to take on the challenges of a new day.
Date a guy who is younger than you because he will broaden your horizons. Be it visiting developing countries or exploring unique places to eat, the excitement and joy you derive out of it isn’t contrived or draining. It’s inspiring.
Date a guy who is younger than you because he gives you courage to explore the unknown. Instead of the usual dinner and movie dates, he will take you on a hike across MacRitchie, scream-inducing rides in amusement parks and to places that you will never thought you would set foot in your entire life.
Date a guy who is younger than you because he will be supportive of your dreams. He will constantly encourage you to fulfill your aspirations and keep you reminded of how life is full of hopes and opportunities.
Date a guy who is younger than you because he doesn’t carry baggage of the past. He is a reflection of the less-jaded, open and fun version of yourself some years ago.
Date a guy who is younger than you because you will feel as young as him too. I’m not saying you should be like Stacy’s Mom, but you’ll find that age is not an impediment for you to do great things.
Date a guy who is younger than you because he brings on an interesting perspective in life and helps you see the world in a different light.
Date a guy who is younger than you because he is not shy to look to you for advice, and is confident enough to appreciate that the experiences you have faced before mean something. With an open mindset and a measured thought process, you’ll be surprised that the decisions you make together will go a long, long way.
So will you date a girl who is older than you?
Date any girl you like, age should never be the limiting factor. What’s more important is that both you can connect, and are able to respect each other’s point of view and see things from a common perspective.
There are times where couples are bound to disagree, but what’s important is that in the process of sorting out these disagreements, there is love. With love comes sacrifice and the willingness to give and take. Over time, you’ll find that you have grown in your relationship.
Age does not equal to maturity. As long as you both love each other and share the same levels of maturity and beliefs, there are no problems that can’t be solved. After all, when you’re into your twilight years, 70 years old doesn’t really differ from 80. What’s important is that both of you have each other.
