Photo Story – On the ferry to the Sea Fortress of Suomenlinna
I saved this for a separate post because the photos taken along the way to Suomenlinna were very nice. Think of seagulls soaring in the sky and the wind whipping up the Finnish flag, tall and strong. We also passed by a little piece of land where the sea gulls were roosting, and no sweat, there it was – Finland’s very own camouflaged battleship.
In the summer, it’s a good idea to take the ferry early in the morning, around 8am as the sun is not too hot to enjoy the outer deck, and there are not that many people on board. Gives you ample space to get the right angle for photos.
Directions:
To get to the ferry terminal (Kauppatori), take bus 615/620 from the airport to the main bus station, Rautatientori. From there, ask for directions to Kauppatori. It’s an easy 10 minute walk. The ferry ride cost €5 for a return ticket (price as of summer 2014).
