A Kashmiri Photo Story (7): Chashma Shahi Srinagar
Chashma Shahi was the first garden I visited while on the auto rickshaw tour in Srinagar. It was my first time in a place that snowed, my first time in a snow-covered garden. Despite the freezing cold, all I could do was pluck up courage to trot around the garden with my flimsy made-in Bangkok sneakers, while fighting the frostbite in my toes.
Unlike the two Baghs, the Chashma Shahi, was built by Ali Mardan, a governor during the days of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1632, according to Wiki. The garden is located in the Zabarwan Range, near Rajbhawan (the Governor‘s house) overlooking Dal Lake.
You might think that after some time, the pictures start to look the same. But I assure you, it’s not. Each tree in the photo tells a story. Each person reflects a special feeling, when I was there. And if you do scroll to the very end, a splendid picture awaits you.
